London court to hear Nadeem appeal in November
The London high court has reserved five working days from November 20
exclusively to hear an appeal filed by music director Nadeem Akhtar Saifee
against the order of the Bow Street magistrate who recommended his
extradition to India for his complicity in the Gulshan Kumar murder case.
The order was delivered on May 24 by a division bench of the London high
court, Nadeem's lawyer, Majeed Memon, who returned on Tuesday from London
said.
A schedule preceding the hearing was also drawn by consent for both the
sides to file their arguments, Nadeem's lawyer said.
In his defence, Nadeem had raised a bogey of human rights violation in India
alleging that the erstwhile Maharashtra government had pinned him in the
crime only because it was "anti-Muslim".
Nadeem has urged in the appeal that evidence of approver in Gulshan Kumar
murder case had been wrongly relied upon by the Bow Street magistrate. He
alleged that the approver had given statements under "pressure" from the
police, who "tortured" him.
Nadeem has referred to the approver's retraction of his statement alleging
"torture" by the police. He pointed out that the approver had also urged an
Indian court to withdraw the pardon granted to him earlier but his plea was
rejected as the pardon once given could not be withdrawn, his lawyer
claimed.

The undisputed Rani
The uncrowned Rani of Bollywood, this Mukherjee girl sure made an impact
with Ghulam. The film catapulted her to the top bracket where it mattered.
Her films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mann and Baadal even gave her cousin
Kajol jitters about her future in the industry. Watch out for the dusky
beauty in the Salman Khan, Priety Zinta starrer Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega!

Shahrukh with sign of relief!
After 'Baadshah' and 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani', it is no secret that the
Shah of Bollywood is just rearing to deliver a hit at the turnstiles. So
with 'Josh' all set to set the cash-registers ringing - yes, reports claim
that the film is going to have a bumper opening with tickets being
completely sold out on the first day of plans opening - and with the great
news of becoming a father yet again, Shah Rukh is finally breathing a sigh
of relief with the news that the theatre strike has been called off for now.
The strike was earlier supposed to start on the day of 'Josh's release - 9th
June. With all that hoopla created by the media of pitting SRK against
Hrithik, all eyes will certainly be turned on the performance of the film.
After all it could decide who is the baadshah of the silver screen - at
least for now.

Hrithik..in Action!
After the romantic thriller 'Kaho Na…', dad Rakesh Roshan now plans to
produce and direct another film with son Hrithik. And this time looks like
it could be an out and out action flick. The film which is likely to go on
the floors in February next year, could take two-and-a-half years to hit the
silver screen. And Rakesh predicts that audience preferences are likely to
shift from youthful romances to Hollywood-style slick action movies in the
next couple of years. And he wants to be with the trend when the film is
finally ready for release. Though Roshan Sr. is still on the look out for
the right script, it is the distributors who are most excited about the
whole project. After the kind of success 'Kaho Na…' has seen, there is no
doubt that Rakesh's next flick will be the hottest thing going and could
fetch a cool figure. As for Hrithik fans, they must surely feel that
'action' speaks louder than words!

Akshay Khanna-Having tuff time!
After 'Dahek', Akshaye Khanna has been out of circulation. In fact,
detractors have been going to town claiming that the actor's career is
kaput. However, AK himself feels otherwise. In fact he claims, "The past
five years have been like net practice. I feel now the real match, will
start." With that kind of attitude, there's probably nothing that can keep
you down. And retaliating to the claim that he doesn't have any films on
hand, Akshaye claimed that he had learnt his lesson and would not sign every
film that came his way. "And if finding the right script means not working
for a couple of months," he adds, "I am open to that." At the moment Akshaye
is quite excited about his only film on hand - Farhan Akhtar's debut
directorial with Aamir and Saif Ali Khan. Now that should certainly be
something to look forward to.

Amitabh-Reviving ABCL!
Yes, all you AB Baby fans will be delighted to know that the superstar's
corporate venture ABCL is on the road to recovery. With timely help from
Bachchan's friends like Subrata Roy of the Sahara group and Amar Singh, the
Samajwadi Party general-secretary as also an ABCL board member. And as their
first project, it's going to be a double Bachchan starrer - both father and
son, Abhishek, will be cast together. To be directed by Rakesh Mehra, the
film will certainly be a much-awaited venture. Trade pundits are already
predicting a favourable outcome even before the film is launched. After all,
who can refuse two Bachchans for the price of one!

Lis Ray:Back again!
After a long sabatical, Lisa Ray is back. No we're not talking about the
'Sprite' ad (which itself is quite a sensation) which claims "logon ko paisa
do toh kuch bhi bol daalte hai" and shows bathing beauty Liza pouring the
drink all over herself. No, we're talking about her signing Vikram Bhatt's
next project titled 'Kasoor'. Yes, the little lady has finally taken the
plunge after quite a few teething problems when she first decided to put on
the grease paint. Now let's hope things run more smoothly this time. After
all, this 'afreen' is one nymph we'd love to see on the silver screen. As to
who stars opposite her, watch this space for more.

Bollywood-Great Demand in Malaysia!
After taking the nation by storm, Bollywood is surely enticing its
neighbours too. Especially Malaysia. According to a recent news report, the
craze for Hindi films has been increasing by the day. And it is quite common
to see Bollywood stars starring at you out of Malaysian magazines. "Is
Madhuri Dixit never going to act again?" and "Is Hrithik No.1 or Shah Rukh
No.1?" are perhaps common questions there too. The large Indian community
there is one of the reasons for the popularity of Hindi films. Moreover,
rumour has it that filmmakers are even toying with the idea of shooting in
Malaysia instead of Switzerland, especially considering 'filmi' economics.
In fact, Malaysia's Ministry for Tourism, Arts and Culture has been quietly
sending feelers to Bollywood producers to shoot in this country. Now that's
what we call eating your cake and having it too! Bollywood Ishtyle!
