Sippy Films celebrates 25th anniversary of Sholay
Veteran producer G.P Sippy and Sippy Films celebrated the 25th anniversary of Sholay at Gabbar's Den at Hotel
Regent on August 12th.
Though the film was officially released on 15th August 1975, the party was fixed for the 12th so as not to interfere
with India's Independence day celebrations. Waiters were dressed in Gabbar Singh's costumes and they served
refreshments to all the invitees. Though the entire film fraternity was invited to the bash, they were conspicuous by
their absence. Dharmendra, Amitabh, Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini too failed to turn up at the event. Top
Baby talk
Aby's baby has started to talk. Considering that he has been compared to both his father Amitabh Bachchan and the son of Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik Roshan, in the past few weeks, this is what he has to say: 'I am being compared with the best of today and the best of the older generation. This is more than a compliment for me.' That's treading the tightrope with care. However, while he admits that there can be only one Amitabh Bachchan, he is modest enough to laugh aside suggestions that he is another Big-B in the making. 'Still some way to go... I am the Young B,' he says.

Nazia was poisoned
LONDON: As a judicial investigation into the death of singer Nazia Hassan was temporarily adjourned in London, after police told the court they were still carrying out inquiries, 'The News' learnt from highly reliable sources that the inquiry is based on a statement recorded by Nazia eight days before her death.
In the dramatic statement, recorded before her lawyers and several witnesses, Nazia had alleged she was being subjected to slow poisoning. The contents of this detailed statement, which stretches over several hours, were also known to doctors treating Nazia Hassan for her cancer. In the account, which is narrated at great length, Nazia has alleged that she was from time to time given poisonous substances which gradually damaged her body and internal organs. It has been learnt that the statement details all the occasions, since the start of her cancer till the recording of the account, when Nazia suspected she had been poisoned. along with her reasons for this suspicion.
Sources also said Nazia Hassan had instructed her lawyers that in the event of her death, police should be asked to carry out a full investigation. Her lawyers told police of these instructions soon after her death a few days ago in a London Hospital.
The News adds from Karachi: An unabated controversy erupted on the eve of the arrival of Nazia Hassan's body in Karachi from London as her father Basir Hassan claimed that the divorce to Nazia by her husband Mirza Ishtiaq Baig was final, which was outrightly rejected on Wednesday by Baig's lawyer Raza Hashmi.
Nazia died of cancer in a London hospital on Sunday morning. Her body is expected to reach Karachi on Thursday for burial, according to her family sources. It was not immediately confirmed that who will receive her body at the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport. The police sources are mum over the issue.
The body of Nazia Hassan is expected to reach Karachi from London on August 17 (Thursday), her family sources said. The arrival of the body was delayed due to non-completion of formalities on Wednesday, the sources said.

'Jungle' boosted by Veerappan
The Veerappan-inspired movie Jungle failed to be a smash at the box-office. Till Veerappan struck in real life.
Dr Rajkumar’s kidnapping has perhaps proved to be a boon for the movie. A tragedy by any means, but as Bangalore burned, the distributors encashed in on this real life drama. The ads for the movie read, Urmila held hostage on screen, Raj Kumar taken captive by Veerappan in real life. Where does fiction end and real life began?
Sushant Singh, who played a 'Veerappan'-like villian in the movie, agrees that the distributors are cashing in on Raj Kumar’s kidnapping, a ploy that he says appears to be paying off, since collections have started perking up in Mumbai. Sources in the industry say that the response in Andhra Pradesh has also shown an upward trend, though this is not the case in Chennai.
Varma though, appears to be having second thoughts on making this movie since the lord of the jungle has struck. The director plans to stay away from his hometown down South for the next six months.
"I can only hope, and trust, that Veerappan, who is a film buff, does not ask me for ransom in exchange for release of Rajkumar and other hostages," he said.

Salman Khan gets a hair weave in London
In his earlier career, he had these long locks hanging till his
shoulders (like Sunjay Dutt used to), then went in for a close crop.
While his hair vanished, his career kind of appeared on the horizon.
Now with his career seeming to sink again, he decided to go to London,
no, not to shave off the little hair left on his head, but to have a
hair weave instead. Sohail Khan, Salman Khan's younger brother has
also gone along for his own little hair weave. Hopefully, the joint
effort will earn them a badly needed hit. According to latest reports
from the box office, Salman Khan's latest film "Har Dil Jo Pyar
Karega" which released all over India on August 4 has got a good
initial with 100 per cent houseful recorded in theatres throughout the
country.
