Ask for ‘AKS’ only!
There are a few privileged people who have seen Rakesh Mehra’s AKS, and they have all come out raving about the film. Said one producer’s wife after a trial... "Finally, Amitabh is playing a really powerful role that is becoming of his stature and age. He is an absolute pleasure to watch in the film."

Not only her, but even the heroine of the film, Raveena Tandon, couldn’t stop praising the Big B. "God, he is an awesome personality. I remember watching Lal Badshah and envying both Manisha and Shilpa doing all those lovey - dovey scenes they had with him. I couldn’t believe my luck when I got to do all of it with him in AKS. Though I was nervous I was also thrilled to bits! And if nothing else, I ‘ve come away learning so much from him as an actor and a professional."

Looks like Big B is on a roll...

Karisma-Urmila: Budding Buddies
Karisma and Urmila have had quite a checkered history behind them. Urmila was supposed to do Yash Chopra's 'Dil To Pagal Hai' originally but when she opted out, Karisma stepped in. On the other hand, Karisma was the original heroine of Boney Kapoor's 'Judaai' but finally the movie was made with Urmila. Also, Karisma was the heroine opposite Sunny and Bobby in their home production, 'London', but when Sunny shelved that and started 'Dillagi', it was Urmila who was the film's heroine!

So people were pleasantly surprised when at a recent awards function in South Africa, Karisma and Urmila got along famously. Their common designer Manish Malhotra, apparently, was the one who broke the ice between the two reserved actresses. Now will any enterprising producer pick up the gauntlet and dare to cast the two actresses together in a film?

Bobby Deol's Latest Love
These days, Bobby Deol is a distracted man. He can't concentrate on his shots, and to compound his woes, he is shooting every day. The culprit responsible for his state of mind is his little bundle of joy, his son Aryaman.

"All I want to do is spend time with Aryaman," Bobby reveals. "I took a break thinking that I'd get ten days with him after he was born, but the little fellow came later than we thought, so my leave was all gone before I knew it."

Bobby is very firm that his son will have no shortened names. "I insist that everybody calls him just Aryaman, no Ari and Manny or something like that," Bobby grins. The little mite came down with a touch of jaundice soon after birth, so Tanya and he were at the hospital for a few more days till he got better. It is only now that the Deol household is all geared up to welcome him home.

Bobby of course, is ecstatic and his eyes glow with love for Tanya. "Man, I didn't know what pain women have to go through, till I was in the delivery room, watching Tanya. I suddenly see women with new respect." Bobby is determined to pamper Tanya all the more for what they shared when she was delivering the baby.

"I've already decided and announced that I won't shoot on Sundays so that I can be with Aryaman, but that will only be for a few years. After that he'll be telling me, 'Dad, why don't you go to work on Sundays, too?' By the time he's 18, I'll be sitting at home full-time, I don't know what he's going to do," Bobby guffaws. "As it is, I can't concentrate on my scenes. All the time, I wonder about the little fellow."

Amitabh Bachchan - Busy B(ee)
Amitabh Bachchan's jet-setting schedule is as amazing as his indefatigable energy. The star was in London this summer along with wife Jaya for a longish shooting spell of Karan Johar's 'Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham'. He then whizzed off to Malaysia at the other end of the globe for the shoot of David Dhawan's Sanjay Dutt-Ajay Devgan-Aishwarya Rai starrer. Phew! Even when Amitabh is in Bombay, amidst his gruelling Kaun Banega Crorepati and Junior KBC stints, his own film shootings and sundry endorsement schedules, his social diary is bulging and keeps his world in a whirl - whether it entails attending the mahurat of 'Kaantein', or playing chief guest at the launch of the book on Sholay, attending the Aks party or dazzling at Jackie Shroff's bash. Here's one star who defines the word 'busy'.

Sunny Deol Signs Multi-starrer
Producer-director Rajkumar Kohli was famous in the Seventies for packing more stars into a film than sardines into a tin. He left people wondering at his ability to balance multiple fragile egos and roles. Maybe there's a story to the shock of white hair on this filmmaker's head.

Kohli's 1976 hit, Nagin had a whole host of stars like Sunil Dutt, Jeetendra, Feroz Khan, Sanjay Khan, Vinod Mehra and Anil Dhawan flitting in and out of the screen while his 1979 success Jaani Dushman had Sunil Dutt, Sanjeev Kumar, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha besides several smaller fry.

Now Kohli's latest film, which has been tentatively titled 'Jaani Dushman' tries to bring back the heady days of his early successes. This time Kohli has cast Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Sharad Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Rajat Bedi, Atul Agnihotri and Sonu Nigam. In case you are wondering, the tenth hero is Rajkumar Kohli's son Armaan who has reverted back to his original name, Munish Kohli.

Rekha-Kundan Get Together - Kya Kehna?
Rekha, who was very impressed with Ram Gopal Verma's Satya, has still to realise her desire to work with "Ramuji". But till such an opportunity comes her way, she isn't exactly cooling her heels. She is doing the new film directed by Kundan Shah who has become hot after Kya Kehna.

The buzz is that Rekha plays the role of Mahima's mother in the film and the role of Preity Zinta's step mom (yes, the latter seems keen to repeat her Kya Kehna triumph with Kundan). The film co-stars Arjun Rampal and Jimmy Shergil. Besides being promising actors, the two young turks are a good bet if Kundan wants to complete his film fast.

Rinke Khanna-Antra Mali Join Ramu's Company
For all those who were hesitating to ask Rinke Khanna "kem chhe?" after the poor showing of Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, the news is she is doing just fine. Besides playing a stellar role in the release of the week, the Tusshar-Kareena love story, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, Rinke, is also a part of Ram Gopal Verma's Company, a stark film on the underworld. Rinke plays the female lead opposite Ajay Devgan.

The film also offers a second chance to Antra Mali, whom Ramu had earlier cast in his Aftaab-Urmila starrer, Mast. Antra stars opposite the hot, newcomer Vivek Oberoi.

As long as there is Ramu, there is hope for newcomers and people looking for a second chance.

Hrithik-Aishwarya Finally Get Together
Their Coca Cola advertisement gave a lot of filmmakers the idea of casting today's hottest heartthrobs Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai together. But it was one of those difficult-to-achieve star pairs that just didn't happen. Also they had a history. The first Coke ad which they were to star together in fell through and it was Aditi Gowatrikar who finally did the ad.

Now, however, filmmaker Ramesh Sippy seems to have worked his charm and managed to net the two elusive stars together for his next film. Incidentally, Aishwraya is also the heroine of Sippy's son Rohan's directorial debut, Kuch Na Kaho.

Ramesh Sippy may have been keeping a low profile since his Shah Rukh starrer Zamana Deewana, but with a dream star cast like this, he is definitely back in the reckoning.

Juhi: Back To Signing Films
Now that Juhi's baby girl Jhaanvi is more than three months old, Juhi is ready to go back to work. And the industry is welcoming the prodigal back with open arms. Juhi has just bagged Padmalaya's new film, the quaintly-titled Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya opposite Govinda and is all set to start shooting by the end of the month.

Juhi, who has been religiously working out to lose weight, says, "I am all excited about going back to the studios which I love. But now I will have to be very careful about the number of films I do as I have a daughter to take care of."

Incidentally, Govinda is Juhi's hero in yet another film on the floors, Sanjay Chhel's Yahoo.

Sushmita's Shakalaka Groove
Sushmita Sen, after raising temperatures with the Mast mahaul number from Fiza, has done another special appearance item. In the ready-for-release Anil Kapoor-Rani Mukherji starrer, Nayak, Sushmita's inspired grooving to the Shakalaka number is currently enjoying heavy rotation on TV and proving to be a buzz magnet.

Though Sushmita is not too keen on being considered a special appearance specialist, she agreed to do this one because she had done the dance for Nayak's South Indian original, Mudalvan, too. The Tamil original had also been directed by Nayak's director, Shankar, and the number had gone on to become an all-out smash.
