Kapoor sisters declare open war
The success of Kaho Na... Pyar Hai motivated the stage show specialists Morani brothers to conduct shows abroad. Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel were duly signed in. Besides them Karisma Kapoor was also made a part of the show. But somehow things couldn't take off and the show had to be postponed. And is likely to be resurrected this May. Of course, with a change! Bipasha Basu who had wooed the audience with her bold performance in Ajnabee was signed in. But Karisma wanted the Moranis to include sis Kareena, who had just dished out a super-hit in Kabhi Kushi Kabhie Gham. She craftily made them see reason. She convinced them as to how Hrithik - Kareena who were hot pair today and not Hrithik and Amisha. And the next thing Amisha and Bipasha know is that they have been indiscriminately dropped from the shows. When asked about it Amisha said that she didn't need the money like the Kapoor gals. "They are power hungry, I guess!" she said. Amisha felt sorry for Bipasha whose chances to do shows abroad were marred just because somebody didn't want her to be included with them.

Aftab - Amisha: Kya yehi hit hai
Not disappointed by the failure of Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche, Aftab Shivdasani is now looking forward to the release of Kya Yehi Pyar Hai. The film has him paired with Amisha Patel. While Amisha plays a collegiate not impressed with love, Aftab is a lovelorn guy ready to give up studies and family for her. Aftab feels, "Cliched as it may sound, the film is different. My character has different shades and I have done all those things that I haven't done before. It has great songs that have been picturised brilliantly." Following the release of Kya Yehi Pyar Hai will be Vimal Kumar's Suno Sasurji that has Aftab with Amisha yet again. Then there is Vikram Bhatt's Awara Pagala Deewana. "I hope the audience doesn't have too much of me this year," he smiles. Aftab made his debut as an actor with Ramgopal Varma's Mast. It has been three years since he started and is considered to be one of the talented and good-looking few. Slated for release on Mar 22, Kya Yehi Pyar Hai is an important film for the careers of both the stars.

Salim Akhtar to make his directorial debut
Rumour : It is learnt from sources that you have signed a top star and a new hero to play the lead in your next production, which will mark your directorial debut. We are told that the film will be shot entirely in New Zealand in a start-to-finish schedule. If true, could you elaborate on the news?

Salim Akhtar : The news is partly true. I am indeed in the process of planning my next home-production, with which I intend to make my directorial debut. But I have not approached any top star for this film. I will be launching a hero from my family and I am ensuring that it is indeed a big launch for him. The film has been titled HAAN - EK DUUJE KE LIYE and it will be shot in three different countries in a start-to-finish schedule. I am already through with the scripting of the film. Currently, I am looking for a suitable actress to play the female lead in the film. I will be coming out with an official announcement soon.

Haan... Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya : Review
Cast: Karisma Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Kader Khan, Simone Singh, Shakti Kapoor, Himani Shivpuri & others. Director: Dharmesh Darshan

In a recent interview on television, director Dharmesh Darshan spoke at length about his passion for imparting a newlook to his actresses, remember Shilpa Shetty of Dhadkan, Karisma of Raja Hindustani?. Well, he said he had done the same with Karisma in HMBPK. The actress, too, appeared on the same show and talked about his enthusiasim about his work. Well, after enduring a show of HMBPK, one wondered about all that passion, where was it? It defintely didn't come across anywhere in the film. The actors more or less, sleepwalked through their roles. If passion for filmmaking is just getting excited about the heroine's get up, then there really is something unsettling about the mindsets that spend millions in the name of passion and present you with colourless and tasteless trash that is HMBPK.

The film revolves around Pooja (Karisma) and Shiv Kapoor (Abhishek), who are both vying for the same job. Pooja manages to fool the guy into thinking she is the boss's daughter. She promises to hand over his resume to her father and gets him to leave. She then lands the job. Meanwhile Shiv chases Pooja all over, trying to persuade her to get Papa dear to give him a job. Then he spots another advertisment by the same company for general manager. He applies and lands the job. He also realises how Pooja had been stringing him along. But by this time, since he has fallen in love with her and asks her to marry him. They have a short but not-so-sweet honeymooon in Switzerland where Shiv bumps into old collegemate (Simone Singh). In the most cliched of circumstances, the two friends are forced to spend a night together in a hotel room. The inevitable happens as they have absolutely no control over their hormones. The result: Pooja divorces Shiv.

The stage is set now for the entry of second hero Akshay Kumar, who plays an actor Raj Malhotra in the film. The actor needs a secretary and of course, Pooja conveniently fits the bill. So stage is now set for the film actor to conveniently fall in love with his beautiful secretary, who has a perpetual dazed statement on her face. Since the two love stories must touch, the director adds his subtle twist. During a shoot, Raj and Pooja have to go to Naini Hills. And surprise of surprises, the manager of the hotel turns out to be none other Shiv. Now wasn't that subtle? By now, we've managed to really get into the director's psyche and anticiapte his subtle touches and twists. Pooja is caught between Shiv, who she has never stopped loving and Raj, who is besotted by her. Doesn't really take much to know the outcome, does it?

If directors like Dharmesh Darshan spent more time on their scripts instead of the heroine's hairstyle, he just may manage to make a half-decent film. But such are the ways of the industry that the 'look' has assumed an all important position, relegating, the script to a poor third or fourth place. As for the cast, most of them sleepwalk for most of the film's duration. Akshay Kumar fails to impress as the too-good-to-be true Raj, an extension of his role in Dhadkan. Abhishek Bachchan tries too hard. Someone should tell the poor guy that he just doesn't have it. As for Karisma, she looks dazed throughout the film.

Film Review: Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge
Producer: Gordhan Tanwani

Director: Pankuj Parasher

Music: Sajid-Wajid, Daboo Malik

Cast: Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen, Diya Mirza, Sharat Saxena, Mukesh Rishi,Inder Kumar

It is huge – it is massive, but is the publicity and not the movie! Initial part of the movie is great and gripping but as the movie starts rolling it becomes sick as any C grade film minus the great visual colourful treat.

The story is set in rural Rajasthan, it revolves around Vir (Salman Khan), the only son of a rich Thakur (Sharat Saxena) and Thakurain (Nishigandha Wad). Vir gets involved with a cute and innocent looking girl called Muskaan (Diya Mirza) who talks more and thinks little. Vir keeps getting different visions – he sees different things like he is war, or he is shooting someone. All this even starts getting him in trouble like a small pup once makes him feel that a huge dog is trying to attack him. Vague visions haunt him at night. He also experiences a series of deja vus. Apparently, Vir had hurt himself gravely in childhood. As a result he suffers from temporary amnesia. Though that is not the reason for his unexplained encounters. But there is no explanation to his behavior as he cannot remember his past, nor do his parents try to help him.

Vir is all set to marry Muskaan when the bad guys attack Vir. The truth comes out as dad narrates the truth. Thakur had found Vir in a river while he was paying respect to his son (Arbaaz Khan) who lost his life at the Kargil War.

He has a gory past waiting for him in Mumbai. Clueless about his lost identity, Vir comes to Mumbai and traces the missing links to Mehak (Sushmita Sen) and Inder (Inder Kumar). There is also a police commissioner (Mukesh Rishi) gunning after Vir's life.

There is a very interesting scene they show from the past where Sushmita in trying to shoot Salman down. We will leave rest of the mystery for you guys to watch or else there will be nothing to watch in this movie.

The movie is gripping till the first half but the 2nd half has its bad elements. The pace for the 1st half though is slow but you are intrigued to know Salman’s past as it could also be Slaman’s twin brother or look-alike. Inspired on The Long Kiss Goodnight (Geena Davis), Tumko Na Bhool Payenge may strike the right chord with the masses.

Diya looks sexy throughout and wears teeny- weeny back open blouses all the time and for girls there is Salman with his bare chest!

Glitches are too many like they actually show Salman calling from a public telephone booth to Rajasthan when you can only make calls in Mumbai. Salman has to grow with his fights, though some of them are great once expects few new style and tricks but it turns out to be the typical dishum dishum (sound included too!).

The 1st half they keep the Hindus happy while in the 2nd half they have given importance to Muslims this way it may attract the masses. Salman even reads the Namaaz and tries to send a message that Hindu-Muslims need to stay like one. Most of the songs have brilliant choreography with good visual effects. Being colourful, the songs are a great treat. Credit also goes to Sajid Wajid and Daboo Malik.

On the acting side Salman is all right – he looks depressed like he should be to fit his character. Diya looks good but fails with expressions. Sush is her usual self chilling –

Mukesh Rishi (Police Commissioner), Jhonny Lever (dhongi baba), Sharat Saxena and Alok Nath (Rahim Chacha) do justice to their characters. Rajpal Yadav and Inder Kumar are a let down.
