Ongoing ProjectsFAD took the lead in establishing a chain of free Detoxification Centres at Bhardawadi Hospital, Andheri-Bombay in 1990, the first of its kind in India. FAD is the first National Organisation in collaboration with SPARC to compile a National Directory of Institutions working in the field of addiction. FAD's community social workers visit the slums of Mumbai to motivate street children to keep their surroundings clean, help them with health-care facilities and create awareness campaigns for drugs and AIDS. FAD has a drop-in counselling centre where it organises training sessions for social workers, nurses, teachers and community leaders. FAD has organised for the detoxification of more than 1000 poor addicts. FAD has introduced a revolving trophy for colleges which keep their campuses free of the menace of drug-trafficking FAD has been regularly promoting youth activities in the management of drug abuse and prevention of AIDS by organising student's rallies, marathon/cycle races, street dramas, poster exhibitions in schools/colleges/stations for massive public awareness. FAD's van-cum-ambulance provides important linkage in propagating awareness in the slum areas. FAD arranges for free detox treatment facilities and transfers addicts to drop-in centres. FAD also interacts with organisations like LIONS, GIANTS, ROTARIANS, J.C.'s and other NGO's in all their service activities. |
