A floral reception to the Leader of a protest !!!
Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar and her sister Asha Bhosle visited the
the Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly House) to voice the protest against the proposed project of a fly-over on the Peddar Road.
There were leading the delegation of Peddar Road Residents Association and
visted the chief minister Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh in his chamber where Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Chhagan Bhujbal was also present.
They voiced the protest of the residents of the Peddar Road area for the proposed fly over and appealed that the project must be dropped considering the environmental hazards that the citizens of the area would be subjected to.
She said, "Hamari Aawaz chali Jayegi". The CM assured that no steps in the direction of this project will be taken before taking the residents in confidence. The CM further assured that nothing would be done that would upset "Latadidi".
Lataji was presented with a floral bouquet by the chief minister.
The project is estimated at Rs. 125 crores, covering a 3 km long span, Starting from Lala Lajpatrai Institute near Haji Ali to Nariman Point, standing about 20' to 35' above the ground level. The construction period of about one and half year.
