A world-class one-of-a-kind visits Mumbai!
Master Chiu-Chian Chiang's orange tree is one-of-a-kind in the world. It is just 50 centimetres tall with six different species of oranges fruiting cheekily on its tiny miny branches.
Master Chiang is in Mumbai for an exhibition-cum-workshop on bonsai surgery, organised by the Bonsai study group of the Indo-Japanese Bonsai Association. The workshop is from from 5th to 7th March 2001.
This creation took him two years of grafting and aesthetic redesigning. Starting with a branch of "Pearl" , a mini orange tree with oranges as small as cherries, he grafted a branch of "Year" orange tree whose fruits are as large as watermelons!! Later additions were those of a finger shaped orange, the green orange, the lemon orange and the long orange. Another masterpiece of Master Chiu-Chian Chiang is reducing a 40' tall giant Ficus tree to its perfect imitation of a just 2' high bonsai.
