An SOS from MS Divya Singh was forwarded to you all (me included) by Mr. Manoj.  Please ignore that message. Here is the reply I sent to Manoj.

Dear Mr. Manoj,
You have just been a victim of a sham.
This SOS from Divya Singh has been in circulation for some time. You are the third person sending it to me.

For your information, Ms Divya Singh did not send such a message. I know for sure, because I had it verified through a cousin of mine working in Siemens, Bangalore.

Have you ever heard of NonSmall Cell Lung Cancer? I haven't. I was curious. That is what prompted me to contact my cousin. His reply shocked me.

If it was a sham, I would have expected it to be in the name of a fictitious person. Here was a sham issued in the name of an unsuspecting woman - perhaps by a jilted lover?  As a joke it is a cruel one.

Subsequently, Harshal of Nukkad also had circulated this. A couple of days later, Harshal himself circulated a disclaimer to all in his mailing list, saying that he was a victim of a sham!  That is a second independent source certifying that this message is a sham.

Whoever forwarded that message to you, may be informed to ignore it.

People who circulate such sham messages do not realize that genuine cries for help may get ignored amidst such sham messages.

There are at least two other sham message in circulation, that I know of. One regarding Bananas from Costa Rica (infected with "flesh-eating bacteria !) and another regarding Microwave ovens (which I believed to be true and circulated to Nukkad-list !).  Ignore them if you get them.
