the solution involves taking
one piece from bag labelled 1, 2 from the bag labelled
2, 3 from the 3rd bag, 4 from the 4th bag, and so on.
As the differing weight is 1 gm, and the expected
weight of 55 ( 1+2+3+4....+10) pieces should be 550
grams, the single weighing should have all the 55
pieces on 1 side of the balance; next, all that you do
is see what is the total shortfall in the weight. If
it is 1 gm, then only 1 piece out of 55 weighed 1 gm
less, so it came from the bag labelled 1.If the total
is 542 gms, the deficit is 8 gms, and thus the 8 th
bag had lighter coins and so on.
