The Essence of Nukkad

What is it, have you ever wondered, about Nukkad, which each one of us finds
unique, in many different ways?

There are so many people one is involved with, in the living of life, but
apparently, none or few of these seem to give what Nukkad gives.

The essence of Nukkad is that it permits an avenue of exchange between human
hearts.

It provides the freedom for interface, in an atmosphere which is safe,
permissive to a degree, and fostering to an extent.

A horrible thought. Is it possible that our lives, by the same token, do not
provide for this? Do not encourage this? Or are even inimical, adversarial
to such interaction?

Over years I have watched many bare their souls, write openly or between
lines, announce a new job, grieve for the loss of an old one, try out love
which they may not have in real life, express hate which they may have kept
hidden in actual time.

Some have come to deride and have stayed to abide, becoming part of the
structure they would have upset, even turning into saviors and supporters,
on unsteady steeds, ready to joust for the honor of the forum.

Nothing is interesting if universally rosy, and Nukkad has its share of the
Incorrigibles, the beady eyed Committed Ones, who begin and end their posts
with Flagged Invocations, Dire Oaths.

Then there are the Blusterers, the Bullies, who have learned that rampant
rage does not work here, and there are consequences. These have toned down,
perhaps learned for the first time an alternate behavior which looks to an
equal-opportunity interface with erstwhile victims.

And Nukkad, much like a new and Socratic democracy, has seen the entry of
women upon center stage, loquacious, antsy, opinionated.

Step out of line once by woman logic, and you are likely to hear about it in
short order.

Any place where women speak their minds is a place of rare universal
freedom. Its also a place where the Old Silences are lost forever  :-I

The intellectual, the boor, the bully, the comic, the sedate, the petty, the
lover, the beloved, the hater, the behated, all travel upon the starways and
come to the Forum, and transform into Themselves, abide for a while, and
return to their own lives as Someone Else, to come back in the next post.

Much of this bears the hand of its Envisager who signs off, like Zorro, with
a whip-etched 8-)

The rest bears the footprints of all who came this way to stay.

And of some who went away, never to return.
