Re: News: Police fire on mob....

The news dispatch from Reuters (the one I distributed) seemed to indicate that
the police could have avoided firing. But I have learnt since then that they 
(the police) did not have much choice. I would desperately like to believe the 
latter since I would hate to think of Bombay (and India) as a place where 
the law-keepers are out of control.

Can someone from Bombay provide a balanced view of this whole sordid saga ?
