Re: News: Police fire on mob....



The police version is that some rioters tried to set fire to Three trucks
carrying compressed LPG Gas. Had even truck caught fire, it would have
spread to the other two trucks and the blast would have blown apart the
entire slum area and area for miles along all sides. There was no time and
choice - they had to react instantaneously.That was when the firing
happened.
in another case the mob set fire to a luxury bus carrying outstation
pasengers and then did not allow the passengers to alight from the bus. The
police had to intervene to allow passengers to come out.

If the above is true, it does not seem that police had a choice. However
the fact remains that they could have fired on the legs - there has been
indiscriminate firing - but I think the leaders of the political parties
should take responsibility for inciting the mob rather than trying to calm
hings down. they had a chance to do so.
