Sophia,

You can never really flavour Bombay in its happening places. It bears a
stark resemblance to every megapolis including London or New York.

You could savour the private parties some of which are theme based and
serve the most exotic fares in accordance with the tastes of their hosts. 
There are pubs aplenty with very similar looking people hanging around
with their incessantly ringing mobile phones and wearing the same kind of
clothes and almost always talking of their opposite sex. Guzzling draught
beer & smoking Marlboro lights. 

If you still wish to visit these places you could start right away with
Club Abyss (on Turner Road) in Bandra. Its interiors resemble that of a
submarine with some of the most exotic aquaria on display.  This is not
claustrophobic and has very efficient airconditiong to accomodate the
crowds. Good music and good starters. Get in by 9.30 to find a seat.

A 20 minute drive to Juhu will take you to Sampan a restaurant at the
Holiday Inn that serves the best Chinese cuisine in Mumbai. You could
visit the Al-Fresco in the Guest Line Hotel right opposite Holiday Inn for
exotic Italian Food.

Downtown in the President Hotel you could go to the El-Mexicana for a
mexican fare. The "3 flights up" and "Headquarters" will satisfy your
pubbing desires.  These are all situated within 1 km of each other. 

Don't forget the fashion street where you would get the best selection of
trendy clothes at throwaway prices.  But you have to bargain hard.

I'm from London and planning to visit Bombay for a couple of days. Know of
any studenty, happening places to hang out around the Bandra area? For
examples, restaurants, cafes and clubs....
