6) We spend 30% of Central funds on 5% of our population. 5%
includes J&K,
Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Is it
commercially viable.
- commercially viable? you'll rate & weigh the efficacy of every action from
a commercial point of view? J&K,
Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh are
inhabited by our brothers and sisters. our fellow indians. our fellow
humans. and if we have to ensure the security of their life and well-being,
then we should do it.
in the same way, that we expect the police to keep our lives safe in
our hometown.
the way we provide subsidised food & kerosene to people below
poverty line. you can't accept the rationale behind this? go and visit a
village in the hindi heartland. watch a family of 6 eke out a living on rs.
1000 a month. rs. 30 a day which funds there each and every need. i had
workers in our factory who would injure themselves at home on saturday night
and wait till monday, so they can use the factory first-aid box. the local
dispensary would charge rs. 10. they would walk 10 km to a village function,
so they can get good food, and ask for 3 hour leave in the afternoon (with
pay) so they can go there.
in the same way, we provide assistance to the disabled.
we are not wild animals, and follow nature's "survival of the
fittest" dictat. we are humans who can think and have compassion. if we
expect a good life for ourselves from the society, we can not ignore our
responsibilities to the society, either.
national pride, community pride, humanity pride. can not be
explained, has to be felt.
