RE: [nukkad] the kashmir tangle

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tip of the day: Photos of Mumbai at:
http://www.mumbai-central.com/album/
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

To, Nitin, Nukkadites,

1) It is more practical to rate and weigh the efficacy of every action from
a commercial point of view. People from Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura,
Nagaland, etc don't chat on our Nukkad site bcos they are not on the Web.
And they are not on the Web bcos unlike Kerosene, Oil, etc, Web is not
subsidised.
2) What brothers and sisters are you talking about? Just calling them
brothers and sisters once in a week means nothing. For all I know, neither
you nor me ever have gone, are going or would be going to these states in
our lifetime.
3) Why should I take it on myself to ensure the safety, security and
well-being of some states who don't contribute to the nation's bottomline.
Please, I have got enough other troubles on my head.
4) As regards your Hindi heartland, where you describe a pathetic,
tearjerker story of a family of six eke out a living on Rs. 1000 a month,
sorry, that's their problem. Please understand that the poor are poor
because vested interests keep them poor. I am sorry to say that I cannot
accept the rationale of providing subsidised food and kerosene to people
below the poverty line. Doing such things keeps them poor.
5) The caste system has wrecked the villages. Over-dependence on symbolisms,
excessive faith in God and firm, rigid dogmas have kept the Indian villages
poor. And the problem is that people like you and me want to laminate this
poverty and showcase it to the world, that look, these set of people are
poor, but we keep them poor by giving them subisidised ration and Kerosene,
so that x number of people are always artificially kept below the poverty
line. And as if that were not enough, we have Mid-day rice schemes, and
what not.
6) Are we not wild animals? Excuse me, we do follow the survival of the
fittest, that's why for e.g. you have a factory and you employ the
villagers, and not the other way around, because, at some point in your
ancestral tree, someone must have browbeaten someone else, either
intellectually, or monetarily or otherwise, and thus proved the Survival of
the Fittest theory. Just lke you, I am a wild animal. When some of my Hindu
friends join together, some of them say the stupidest things about other
communities, and I stand there like a zombie, watching and praying that this
rubbish will stop, because if I say something, then I become the slowest
herd in the pack, according to Darwin's theory and then I get rejected from
the herd. So please, Survival of the fittest is definitely on, you have to
observe carefully.
7) Just like humans, animals can also think and can have compassion.
8) I am not asking you to ignore the respnsibilities to others. I am asking
you to help them in such a way that from the next time onwards, they can
help themselves. Don't light another lamp by extinguishing your own. In such
circumstances, don't go to light that lamp at all.
9) I leave you with a telling sentence from "The Lost World" penned by
Michael Crichton. One of the characters in the novel says that " Human
beings are the only race in the universe that fights for its beliefs. All
other races fight for basic wants." Now isn't that true?

Best regards,
Rajababu

in the same way, we provide assistance to the disabled.

we are not wild animals, and follow nature's "survival of the
fittest" dictat. we are humans who can think and have compassion. if we
expect a good life for ourselves from the society, we can not ignore our
responsibilities to the society, either.

national pride, community pride, humanity pride. can not be
explained, has to be felt.
