Dear Akshay
There is nothing new being published there. Similar ranting
expressing concern over national security can be seen in articles by Varsha
Bhosale and Arvind Levakere in Rediff.com. Now other than airing concerns
what remedies the so-called well-wishers of the nation are suggesting. Just
hurling abuses at Dilip Kumar, Sharukh Khan and Shabhana Azmi (no I’m not a
fan of Shabhana in the role of a social activist) is not going to solve any
problem. The current government came to power promising milk and honey. My
belief is that their most important pledge was to resurrect Hindu pride. I
would like to know in what way Hindu pride was enhanced during this period
in any way. Also you have branded elite intellectuals as pseudo-secularist.
I’m neither intellectual nor am I claiming to be elite but my humble request
to you is not to undermine all secular minded people. At lease just because
some dirty politicians played the minority card for building vote banks or
some self proclaimed intellectuals misuse it for their narrow gains. A
truly secular person judges others by their qualities, capabilities and
character not on the basis of his faith. I believe a majority of those
subscribing to this list belong to that category. I admit that both the
minority camp and majority camp has sullied the atmosphere by playing to the
gallery for their short term gains, but they can be countered only by not
falling into either of the traps. So friend my humble advise is to
contribute to the solution to the various problems plaguing our nation
rather falling for rabble-rousers.

Bye
