You want a logical answer. The only logical answer is that logic is
important, but not all-important. Logic is based on what is known. Like an
iceberg, the unknown is larger than the known. Brain concentrates on the
known. Heart tries to grasp the whole, known plus unknown. Your Irish friend
simply might have meant that white socks do not suit you, that you would
appear more attractive in non-white socks. Certainly, there is no reason
known to science why white socks should otherwise bring any harm.
