Dear Nukkies
             The event described in the following URL happened at Auckland 
in New Zealand.

Can anybody throw some light into the ritual in question? Is it prevalent in 
India? If yes who practices it? What raises my suspicion is the statement by 
supporters of this practice, which goes on like this.

"It happens all of the time. It is not secret. It is well documented in 
Fiji, Africa, India and the Middle East."

The mainstream body representing Islam in New Zealand has refuted this 
claim.

On a personal note let me express my concern at events like this, which will 
only help tarnish India’s reputation abroad. Especially when India is 
succeeding in  shrugging  off its preconceived image of being a land of 
snake charmers, tigers and monkeys. Our Muslim brethren should condemn 
inhuman practices like this and take to task any offending perpetrators.
