BEYOND GANAPATI

Lord Ganesh has come to earth to bless all beginnings of prayers and
spiritual practice. But what of the end? He has done his part, it remains
for the worshipper to do that. Hence the question, what is the end to which
one strives on the spiritual path? What is the process he has come to bless?

Ganapatiji is an akarik form of a nirakarik power. We build his likeness by
the kalpana we feel, see in meditation, or have been given as true by
tradition.

Thus we resort to AKAR to come into contact with the essence of NIRAKAR.
Hence the idols in temples, homes, shrines.

But all these are nothing if there is not the presence of the real Ganapati
inside the heart, which is a living, breathing and vital experience.

You can feel this if you dwell less on the outside, kalpanit, akarik form,
which after all is a facsimiles of the original. This is the critically
important element in Ganapati worship, the journey from Outside to Inside.

When BHAVE, is established, by meditation, namasmaran, the next station on
the Journey opens up. This is ANUBHAVA.

In this stage darshan of a living, breathing Ganapati inside you becomes
commonplace. You both talk, laugh, exchange information and establish
co-identity. This is SUMMATA. In a sense, the power of Ganapati then resides
in you, and you become Ganapati-kari, and if you don't watch and monitor it,
Ganapati-Akari, where you exhibit divine qualities.

But now there has to be the next step, else you remain where you are, in the
state of Ganapati-Bhava. This can please him, and displease him, the first
because he likes your company, and the second you have become static. In
which case the beginning he blessed did not come to fruit.

THE TRUE VISARJAN

When you go beyond Ganapati-avastha and enter into the marvelous
Anu-avastha, the true Visarjan is experienced. then you bid goodbye to your
friend, helper, amit, and embrace him, and move on. The old ties are never
broken and remain valid, but the Journey must be continued. That is the
reason he came to earth for, and the reason you took akar and began to
breathe.

So what comes beyond Ganapati-bhava?
