Asha,
Yours might be an actual or imagined experience. I had a real one, which I
have not forgotten till today. The time was 1966, the occasion possibly
Dussehra [or Kali pooja], the place Siliguri, west Bengal. I was a captain
in Army Medical Corps. As an officer, we were expected to attend religious
functions organised by the troops. It was a gorkha unit. The scene was
horrible. One after another, jawans came and beheaded goat after goat, as
sacrifice to Kali. The bleating, the blood, the defecation, the smell, the
gory scene, all were pretty revolting. It was the first time I saw animals
being beheaded. I was only 24, and a pure vegetarian. I have not been able
to forget it till today.

in any case, your piece is a beautiful one. It seems to be a wonderful
competition between your capabilities and those of Homi. Both of you seem to
be capable of producing instant pieces, one regarding nature, the other
philosophy. keep it up.
