    You r true, Ganeshotasav used to be performed at my GrandParent's home
also, but during that time, idols where home made out of just plain Mud,
which doesn't cause any waters to pollute.

started by Tilak.So nothing wrong with it.In fact the Sarvajanik Ganeshotasv
mandal some time create more problems like extortions .Sometime Dons used
them as a mean to gain respect.I have seen many Hindu homes where they keep
Ganapati at home , and it seems to be a more sincere approach.
