Dear Anirudh & Ragini
I beleive there are two aspects to your posting
expressing disgust.

1. How relegious a person should be?

2. Abstaining from debates involving controversial issues.

I'm fully with Anirudh when it comes to the former aspect. I defenitely
belong to your bandwagon. God fearing and not an ateist (I assume naastik
means atheist. Pardon me, not a natural Hindi bhashi) but secular and
practical when it comes to every day life. I'm strongly of the opinion that
religious faith should be only a guiding factor. It does not mean that one
should strictly adhere to a holy scripture (or Kitab in the words of MC
Gupta)

However I differ when it comes to the latter. Just because a topic is
controversial doesn't warrant a complete taboo on deating it. Not everything
around us are cosy and warm. Be it plight of women, bride burning,
fundamentalism, religion etc, just because the subjects are dark and
controversial doesnt nullify the ground reality. We the educated lot should
have the ability to judge matters and events based on its merits. The
problem crops up when emotions overrule better senses and one stops low and
indulge in mud slinging. But a politically correct approach of abtaining
from such scenarios is not the right thing to do, at least from my view
point. Also benefits can be derived out of mud slinging. Isn't the popular
technique "brain-storming" all about that?

Anyone free to correct me if wrong.

Bye
