All the "Khans" are 30 + , two of them are fathers. They can hardly qualify
as "youths"
They belong to a different strata of society and hence they are not a valid
representation of the large cross section of the Muslim youth.

--> Info about Syed Ahmed Khan and Hakim Ajmal Khan

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was one of the greatest Muslim educationists, writers
and reformers. Sir Syed is mostly known for the movement that he started
known as the 'Aligarh Movement'. This was a comprehensive, broad based,
holistic movement that embraced the personal, family, community, social,
religious, economic and political life of the Muslims of India. His main
thrust was to provide education for all Muslims and for this he faced three
opponents. The first were his own people, the ignorant Muslims, the second
were the highly advanced Hindus and the third were the British.

Many claim that he was the first Muslim spokeman for a Muslim land in the
Indian subcontinent and perhaps that is why many Indian writers consider him
to be a Muslim separatist. Sir Syed's life is a profound study in human
nature and presents a rare combination of principle and personality that
guided the destiny of the Indian Muslim at the height of the British Raj in
India.

Hakim Ajmal Khan was the major inspiration behind the foundation of Jamia
and its first Chancellor, a post he held till his death in 1927.He was an
outstanding physician (hakim) by profession, hailing from a family of
physicians. Today, he is more known today as a nationalist leader, freedom
fighter, president of Indian National Congress (1921) and a close associate
of Mahatma Gandhi. In 1921, he presided over the Khilafat Conference. A
grateful nation conferred upon him the title of Masih-ul-Mulk. He was the
uncrowned King of Dehli and was a great champion of Hindu-Muslim unity and
his views on national politics were given importance.

Agreeably the Muslim in India needs such role models. But do the role models
have to be Muslim ?

All that anyone needs to rise out of the ordinary is an inspiration or a
burning desire to get out of the morass and that can come from anywhere. Not
neccesarily from the same community

All organisations for the youth should not be based on religion alone.
Islamic organisation for Muslim youth and Hindu organisation for the Hindu
youth !!!!

What social upliftment can we expect if everything is done on the basis of
religion ?
The right exposure is important when an individual is at his/her
impressionable age.

As far as segregation between males and females are concerned I guess every
community is guilty in this regard upto some extent

Nelson
