I have the following comments:
1. The majority in India believe , as reflected in the Indian Constitution,
that each individual has full freedom to believe or not to believe in god,
to follow or not to follow a particular religion, and to adopt or not to
adopt a particular form of worship. We also believe, as reflected in the
Constitution too, that everybody has a right to propagate his religion
through peaceful means]. Within that premise, Hindus do not comment upon
other religions and practices. While they do not mind healthy comment and
criticism, they do not appreciate negative comment and ridicule.
2. There are essential differences between Hinduism and Islam. A person can
be a Hindu, yet not believe in god. For a muslim, belief in god is a must.
Not only this, that god must be a muslim godor khuda. One who believes in
muslim god is a believer; everybody else is a non-believer. For a true
muslim, it is an act of high appreciation if he announces jihad against
non-believers and kills or converts them.
3. I disagree that the condition of muslims has deteriorated during last 50
years in India. It has improved. But that has been because of government
efforts. A community can not walk and climb on crutches. Muslims themselves
need to have a wider vision and perspective. Turkey would not have advanced
had they not modernised themselves. They are muslims, but the counterpart of
Indian madrassa would be an anachronism there.
4. A muslim should understand that Hindus do NOT worship an idol. They
worship god. They see god in every particle, every creature of the universe.
They see in an idol a symbol of god. If I write here: 'Rohit Zaveri and Syed
Noor are rogues', you would both feel offended, though I have never met you,
nor ever insulted you. You feel offended because you deem your names as
symbol of yourself. Similarly, an idol is a symbol of god to a Hindu, and he
feels pained if that symbol is insulted. But, as a true Hindu, though he
feels pain, he consciously tries and avoids being angry.
Hope my contribution is of help.
