Mobile tracking
Yes it's possible... but in very extreme cases...
The technology was used to track down victims of 9/11 but it was an
futile effort...
It has been used very successfully to track victims of other
accidents...
It working is very simple... radio signals or any other transmissions
move out in an concentric manner... strongest at the transmitter and
weakest at it's range perimeter... now in order to get the best
reception on your handsets... cellular companies try to overlap these
concentric circles to give the best reception...
Now by using the principles of triangulation & a bit of trigonometry...
a location of an mobile handset can be tracked down... to an extreme of
a few feet, in a dense network coverage area... to a few hundred meters
in a sparsely covered area...
Hope this helps...

Subject: [nukkad] Mobile tracking
------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Blood is not only thicker than water, it boils faster.

----
Are their methods through which the physical location of a mobile can be
tracked?
A cellular's transmitter gives signal everywhere. One mobile understands
those signals and communication is established. The transmitter can't
understand which signal was caught by a phone.
But when the mobile sends signal to a tower, is there any method that
the tower can give the location from where the signals are originating
and track the physical location of a mobile?
---------------------
I have read in a Arthur Hailey novel (The eleventh Commandment) that The
signals to a particular mobile were blocked by the U.S. authorities so
that there was no incoming and outgoing calls from that mobile.
However, they mentioned, they were able to get the info of which number
is trying to contact the mobile, as well as which no. the mobile is
trying to contact.
All figment of imaginations, or any techy truth behind it? How?
