Thank You Cherian for an excellent analysis of the problem. Your analytical
skills are indeed remarkable. 

The solution you suggested for Jerusalem is remarkably similar to one
articulated in one of Tom Clancy's novels (I forgot the name of the book).
In the Novel, Jerusalem is portrayed as the main stumbling block for middle
east peace and the Palastine problem is solved by handing over Jerusalem to
a council comprising of nominees of Pope, Chief Rabbi of Israel and the
Chief of the Holi Mosque of Mecca. A secret pact (initiated by US - who
else?)is signed by all the three with the concurrence of Saudi King. This
takes the wind out of the terrorists outfits and peace reigns - of course
with US guarantee! The novel ends on that note. 

I mention this not for distracting from the from the merits of your
excellent suggestion. The novel took a simplistic view but our analysis
covers a wider canvas. Well done, Cherian!
