hmm.. sanskrit as the national language .. that would
have been something ..!!

of all the present indian languages, i thought south
indian languages had more roots in sanskrit than hindi
had.  ( of course, it is just my opinion ) .. 

anyways, does anybody have any historical knowledge
about when sanskirt ceased to exist as a spoken
language(i wonder if it ever was the spoken language
of the entire nation) and the umpteen other local
indian languages came into reckoning?
