the tamil kings have at various times invaded and won territories in
Srilanka.
just like the pandya, chola and chera kingdoms expanded and shrunk with
times
the Srilankan territory too has been part of the pandiya or chola empire.
the Srilankan are supposed to have migrated from Bengal long ago!
a large number of tamilians migrated during the british times as laborers
to work in the tea gardens.

however i do not see any reason to say it was part of india!
