I think freedom at midnight also had elaborate info and theme for that.
It must be available at every book stall.

It was partly written in my replies to Azim or someone just last month.
In summary, Mr Godase was a member of then version of Vishwa Hindu
Parishad. (what was the name) believing in the integrated Vrihad Bharat
as described in recent mails on Burma thread.

If you see old films like Anandmath showing freedom struggle, there is
picture of Bharat Mata, duly chained, against a background of vrahad
bharat map.

He found Gandhi has become too lenient for Pakistanis and muslims. And
there were indeed several incidents to support this. Gandhi forcing the
Indian
Government to release payment of those crores of ruppes was the
proverbial last straw that tilted the scale. that made Mr Godase call
the shots.

When Gandhi was killed, the Radio reported "Mr Gandhi had been shot
dead. His Killer was a Hindu." to avoid communal massacre that was
supposed to ensue if the killer had been a muslim.

As I had mentioned, if Gandhi had lived for one more month, he was
planning to go on a walk all over Pakistan. History of India-Pak
relations would have been totally different had he succeeded in that. 

He sure would have got killed there.
