Bhai Rawat,
By and large, which ever party rules, in our country merit of the person
within the party, how much voter support he commands, how much fund can he
raise at the time of election etc. are the deciding factors.
No Muslim chief minister has belied the faith put in him by the public. Good
or bad whichever you tend to take the politicians as, their performance is
indistinguishable from other chief ministers.
I do not know whether I had included the name of Fakhriddin Ali Ahmed who
became chief minister of Assam before becoming president.
Men like Maulana Azad, Hafeez Khan, M.C.Chagla, Sikander Bakht were/are of
high calibre and always wanted to play role at the national level. If they
wished, they could have become C.M. of their states just for asking.
The one C.M. you missed in J & K was G.M. Shah, the brother-in law of Faruk
Abdulla. He lives a lavish life in London now a days, not bothered about the
plight of his people. The government has kept him in reserve, just in case
something goes wrong with both Faruk & Omar Abdulla.
