What does Abhigyan mean?
Why India is called Bhaarat comes from there.
There was a sage Vishwamitra who did long tapasya that made the
Gods worried that the powers he is acquiring might dethrone them
and Vishwamitra might become lord of the Gods.
They sent teh beautiful Apsara Menaka from heaven who proactively
served Vishwamitra in his activities and thus wins his heart.
Vishwamitra gives up tapasya and marries her. They have a
daughter named Shakuntala.
After Shakuntala is born, Menaka tells Vishwamitra the purpose of
her visit to him and goes back to Heaven. Vishwamitra also goes
to do tapasya again.
Shakuntala is nurtured in the aashram of another sage (name?).
When she comes of age, the king of the country, Dushyant happens
to come by in a hunting spree. Shakuntala and Dushyant fall in
love and consumate.
Dushyant goes back to run his kingdom and gives Shakuntala a
finger ring saying that whenever she comes to his palace, she
need to show him this ring so that he would be able to recall
about her. (what logic).
Shakuntala gets pregnant, and gets expelled from the aashram so
that other girls do not take her lead.
She goes to Dushyant kingdom, but while crossing a river, the
rings drops from her finger to the river. When she meets
Dushyant, in absense of the ring, he is not able to recall who
she might be. (what logic).
She goes to a forest and lives there, giving birth to a son whom
she nutures there.
The ring fallen in the river gets eaten by a fish which is caught
by a fisherman who presents it to the king, Dushyant who, on
looking at the ring suddenly recalls everything about her, and
started searching for her.
One day he was passing through a jungle when he saws a little kid
playing with lions and by forcibly opening opening the mouth of a
lion was counting its teeth.
He was impressed. He asked the kid to take him to its parents.
The kid takes him to his mother who happen to be Shakuntala.
The king apologises and take both of them to the palace and
officially marries her.
The kid, Bharat, succeeds the king and captures large tracts of
neighbouring kingdoms founding a vast empire that was name
Bhaarat after the name of the king.
> Kalidas did Kanya bhakti
There was a dharmendra, Hema Malini starrer Dillagi (20 years
ago) in which Dharmendra was a Indian literature professor, and
he very seducingly recites beauty and love scenes from Kalidas'
writings.
Kalidas was indeed good at sensuous writing. He wrote a very
elaborate account of first night between lord Shiva and Parvati
(which book?), probably the first indian Erotica, in chaste
sanskrit.
When Tulsidas wrote Ramcharita Manas, he mentioned the marriage
of Shiva and Parvati but did not describe any further, saying
that they are like mother and father to him, how can he describe
about their consummation. (which is the exact doha?)
