If that means I only read thrillers, that is not true. I read
anything and everything. Only "Sports" is a no no.

For last 8 years, I am mostly into serious reading, though
whenever I can lay my hands on some new release of my old fav, I
find it impossible to resist. Nor do I try to.

Reading is the only way, you can send new information to your
brain after your formal education is over.

During school/ college you are forced to read. Thus information
keeps on entering your mind. But once you finish off formal
education, and settle in a service/ business, your daily life
becomes routine. meeting new persons can provide information by
knowing their views, but there are hardly any new persons you
meet in months.

TV etc are manipulated by viewer to feed to their already
developed taste. They see only those serials, movies which they
already like. Thus feeding of new information is not there and it
becomes repetitive. except discovery, etc.

newspaper is having so many gory details nowadays, that pessimism
is more visible than new information.

Thus, if you don't read books, there is no way you are opening to
inflow of new information. And once you start reading, any small,
inconsequential looking information going into your mind gets
processed and gives you benefit in due course of time.

Thus, I must say that if one does not read as a hobby,
deevlopment of your mind and personality halts at the time you
finish your formal studies. For those who read, it continues till
they are alive.

Whenever I meet a well-qualified person who does not like to
read, I feel sad.
