But this is much the same look you would see in a city dweller's 
eyes when he is in a far off rural village.

He would never know what does the soil say to the tiller, or what
the seed speaks in his ear.

Nor would he know under which land flows a river of the sweetest
water, and which the rankest, to be discovered after spending 
rs 100 000 to dig a well.

The man would never know how the Dowser handles the forked
stick and finds out underground water in arid landscape, or
relocate someone's lost cow in the valley beyond the farthest
hill.

And the peace which dwells in these softly eyes, which have 
seen countless harvests but had to go to bed hungry with his 
brood because the sahukar cheated him out of his fair share
of grain.

The eyes hold the soul, and have no place for plain brittle
plastic knowledge.

So maybe we need to reassess "best read" and match it
against those who are unread but have "earth wisdom."
