Dr. Vasudevan posed a query: Why drink alcohol? There has been no 
real answer, just excuses for indulging in the habit, which are 
sought to be passed off as answer.

would just like to say that no excuse is required for drinking alcohol... 
Lots of people do it just because they like to... in moderation..i 
dont believe it is any worse an evil than most others....
its only when u have it in excess / it becomes an habit ... 
it can be dangerous... but then so can drinking tea... 
Too much of anything is bad... 
(In the immortal words of Freddie "Too much LOVE will kill you")
but taken in moderation.. theres nothing much wrong in it...

[NB: Everything can be preserved in alcohol, but dignity].
