Re: [nukkad] -Rape of 12-year-old homeless girl in local train outrages Mumbai

It is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen.
-Aristotle, philosopher (384-322 BCE)

So it happened on Aug 14. Reported at nukkad on Aug 20, while
members were busy discussing alcohol, promiscuity, nicknames,
muslim godesses, suicide, techy, word meaning.

Had the reporter not have witnessed it, it would not have become
public knowledge. Wonder how many such incidences are going
unreported.

averted this incident. It is not possible to post a constable in
every compartment," said Suresh Bhalekar of the Borivali
Divisional Railway Police.

I agree to his view. Citizens have to rise up to the occassion
instead of waiting government to do everything.

I myself am a middle class person. I don't know what
sensibilities he is talking about.

For those witnesses, it certainly is dead. Also for several
indians who think like them and behave cowardly like them.

> 2.Are we becoming just working machines?

Those persons have.
The ensuing nation wide outrage does suggest that most of the
nation still has a conscience.

> 3.What your Soul says?

I would have intervened to prevent it whatever could have
befallen upon me.

I think even if one of them had intervened, others would also
have got over their coma and come forward.

I had a very high opinion of mumbai-ites, the way they form
queues at bus stand, the way they assert their rights at most of
the places. Now I have to re-appraise them.
