As far as the word divorce goes, to me the divorce procedure in Islam was the 
only one that sounded idiotic! (sorry, no offence to all muslims out there) 
They made divorce and marriages sound so simple. They have the right to 4 wives 
as well as the right to say the word divorce 3 times, and its all over for the 
poor ladies. As recent as 2 months back, i read over the news about Malaysian 
muslims being allowed the right to divorce their wives over SMS! (short msgs 
svc) I think this cowardly, undignified and rude. In singapore, we are more 
stable and practice uniform civil / criminal codes .Even when a muslim man 
wants to divorce, he has to go thru the courts and is subjected to the normal  
procedure that any other chinese or hindu or christian follow here. Even the 
muslim ladies can file for divorce and revoke their husbands rights to remarry 
without their consent if the husband had failed to pay maintanance,if lawfully 
justified by her.

As for UCC in India, I would have no objections to following the laws of the 
majority community if they set the law with the minorities in mind. However, if 
this translates into religious majority making laws for minority religious 
groups, then I think it is unacceptable for encouraging nationhood. I would
