---------------------------------------------------------------------------- You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. -Kahlil Gibran, mystic, poet and artist (1883-1931) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ======================================================================= Dr. G wrote : ... by propping up military regimes and dictatorships, and by denying the people the right to chose their own form of politico-economical style like socialism, ... and by making unavailable food and medicines to starving and dying sick Iraqui children unless the people of Iraq choose to dump their popularly elected leader... Sean replied : bahut khoob Gupta saab, bauhut khoob! I fully agree with you, Most of us are aware of the vested interest in Iraq (OIL)... ======================================================================= Thanks Sean... you are absolutely right. Oil is the main issue... (for everybody !!) :-) Dr. G... Sir... well said... :-) And I would like to add a little more about the India Iraq affair... The Iraq crisis has polarised Indian policy makers. The "traditional" ones want to oppose the use of force against Iraq... and they want Delhi to stay away from a war on Iraq. But the other "pro-US" group wants to be US's ally. It is my understanding that this group urged the Indian PM to openly support Bush in this matter... to indicate loyalty to the US and to "set the stage" (if needed) for a future Indian attack on Pak. Also... it is well known that the BJP does not care for Sad-I-Am. Let us not forget... India (and US's European allies) welcomed Bush's May 2001 speech announcing "Star Wars" (that was a suprise coming from a long time "Non-aligned" country like India). Like the US... India has its own selfish interests. If there is a war then the Indian government would be worried about the rise in oil prices, export of electronics goods etc. to Iraq and political instability in Iraq's neighbourhood stretching all the way to Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Another matter of concern is the impact of the war and the resulting turmoil on the economy of the Gulf region (there are about 2-3 million Indians in the Gulf region and their annual $5 billion plus "income" is very useful for the Indian economy :-)). Indian foreign policy has always been ambiguous. But soon India may have to take a stand from ambiguity to ??? And this time... I doubt if India will be able to withstand UN/US pressure – no matter what Indian interests dictate. :-) Thanks, Sam. _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To join/leave, use the form at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/#options This list is archived at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/archive.html
