I agree generally with what you said in that mail but just a passing
thought: Is Saddam Hussain, a popularly elected leader? I am not forgetting
that he has recently been 'reelected' with 99% votes for another 7 years as
President, but on the basis of a one party one man 'election'. The choice
before the Iraqis were as clear as what Henry Ford said about Ford's new
Model T car. 

When asked about the colours in which the new car Model T will be available,
Henry Ford is reported to have responded : The customer can have his Model T
in the colour he likes, so long as it is black. Similarly Iraqis could vote
for any candidate they like so long as it is Saddam Hussain. Some election!

But I agree that it does not give the world policeman the right to intervene
or choke people of that country until they have a dictator of the
Policeman's choice.
