Any elucidation would be welcome. (Err..)Rhett Butler: If you love someone Set YOURSELF FREE If she asks you why say you don't give a damn. === I myself don't know about him/her ---------------------------------- hmmmnn, I take great pleasure in telling this here. This is based on the novel and film 'Gone With the Wind' , Hero Rhett butler, played sooooooooo handsomely by Cary Grant. where Rhett Butler says when the heroine comes to him," You know what Darling, I give it a damn." this is amongst the most famous dialogue of any book or film on it. Maybe as famous as , ' arey o sambha, kitney aadmi thei...' but the emotions involved are so very different. Besides the context, you know what, permit me some liberty here. Guptaji and Rawat, you both sadly surprised me that you have not read this timeless classic book cause if i have read, Rawat too should have had and Gupta ji you sure should have :). It used to be a must read then. It is so good that an ardent reader will breeze through the 1000 pages of the paper back. Bad, bad, bad. Punishment: Right now, stop the bickering here, go wherever you can to get, pick the book and read NOW and then see the double VHS case of the film, at top priority. You will forget that Cary Grant's name is not Rhett Butler. He has lived the role that well ( Oh, all have played the Role as well, but I loved Cary Grant is a different story. The delicate, Vivian Leigh, the heroine, maybe you guys will love. The heroine Scarlett is written by author with such completeness of womanhood and all characters is unexplainable...like in Hindi.....Stri hat ka har roop is there. In memory time now, you have to listen further, :) I had treated myself to this book at the completion of my MSc's last exam. and what a treat it was. but sadly had no one around, may missed an Anna then, to discuss it with. I used to sit on my study table and read the small print, and a cousin had remarked...Ab tum kya padh rahi ho...ho to gaye exams. I was oblivious of all. and was as much affected by the book as later in life by Mahesh Bhatt's film 'Arth' had affected. Then after many years could see the movie, 'Gone with the wind' in Delhi. ( and a small secret now, as a silly woman, i used to day dream as Scarlett and that Cary Grant does not say the finishing line:))))) Whoever sent that. thanx for making me go gooey. Ragini ps: I will be further surprised if i get to know Harshal too has not read it. Why? I dunno.:) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To join/leave, use the form at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/#options This list is archived at: http://www.mumbai-central.com/nukkad/archive.html
