---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "All great deeds and all great thoughts have a ridiculous beginning." - Albert Camus ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- VSRawat wrote about a group of Hindu women observing roza. One of my uncles (mama) used to keep a single symbolic roza each year. He never made a big deal about it and we never bothered enough to ask why he kept that single roza. His son now carries on that tradition. As for the other way around, I can't ask others to observe Hindu fasts etc. as I myself hardly ever observe them. Yes, Bharat bhai, I am one of those Kalyugi Hindus who hardly ever fasts. I do partake in those fasts where I can enjoy 'faraal' (approved foods, to put it simply). Yes, I fully realise the irony of a fast where one consumes more calories than on a regular day. That doesn't stop me from enjoying it. I had briefly tried to 'take a break' one day a week (not for religious but for health reasons) but could not sustain it long term. I have always been fascinated by rozaas and also by the Jain method of fasting (no food whatsoever for 3 or 8 or 15 or 30 days - you can pick your choice -, only water). I doubt I can manage either. Kudos to those that do.
