[No Blank!] Dear Ragini,

(*> If I remember well the cast was: Vivien Leigh[Scarlett], Clark
Gable[Rhett], Olivia de Havilland[Melanie] and Leslie Howard[Ashley]. But
certainly Cary Grant would have been a better Rhett. : ))

(*> The funny thing is that I also read, or should I say devoured, 'Gone
With the Wind' during my exam session. But I had seen the film before.
Although it was made in 1939 and has the mannerism that most films from that
time have, I still watch it from time to time, and so do many of my
friends. Is it the genius of the director and the actors? Or the genius of
the story itself[and its author Margaret Mitchell]? Or both?

Later there was another exam session marked with voracious reading. This
time it was 'The Lord of the Rings' by Tolkien. It was a borrowed copy.
Some years later I bought one for myself. But now I know it is a dangerous
book. : 0 Once you have started reading, you are likely to neglect other
things, even important, until you finish! So I get to it only during the
holidays now. Almost every year!
And it is more than the excellently constructed story and the world in which
it is set. It is Tolkien's language which is not just something to read - it
is something to taste, savour and feast upon...
Shortly speaking - a masterpiece.

Best,

Anna.
