"Go to Abudhabi court and see how much your wisdom talk yields.
If I chance to visit Doha in a couple of weeks, I may meet you,
but would not like to trouble you. Thanks for the offer."

I would not talk otherwise Rohit, or at least qualify the statement.

A friend of mine was arrested, accused and tried in court for adultery and
violation of social norms, a term more popularly known as sexual abuse in
the rest of the world. He and the woman involved were both non muslims. One
a Protestant and the other a Catholic, religions the Koran does account for.
Both were tried in a Civil court found guilty sentenced and deported.

The second instance involved a hindu who died in a car accident and the
driver responsible for his death a muslim (national) contested the award of
blood money. As one of the people involved was non muslim the judge refused
to transfer the case to the Sharia court despite protestations of the
defendants lawyer. The award was made in full and an appeal made to the
Sharia court was turned down.

I know of the first as a friend and the second because the Indian Community
Benevolent Fund was involved.

PS
Jhatka and Halal

When practises set by religion are followed these are set in the time the
religion is founded. The reason Halal is the preferred form of slaughter of
animals is that the blood flows out of the animals body. If any blood stays
in it tends to spoil the meat for storage. Also pork is forbidden for
Muslims and Jews only because the climate was not conducive for storage of
the meat even if salted. If by a quirk of fate you were born in an arid
region like the middle east where there were hardly any vegetables to be
found you too would have ended up as a meat eater by destiny. For a
vegetarian, meat eaters do seem like people from another planet.

Even for the average meat eater the sight of an animal being slaughtered can
put him/her off meat sometimes for ever.
