On chatty mails:

These days there is deluge of chatty kind of mails. Although such mails are
very brief, they are generally of no wider interest.
Please take it in a friendly spirit and appreciate that this request is not
beamed at any individual whosoever.

(*> I do not think the situation has become as dramatic as to call for words
like 'deluge'. Perhaps such mails are not of wider interest, but they do
have sort of refreshing effect, are a brief interlude between the acts of
the drama of life as reflected on Nukkad. Do you not think so..?
And of course the request not having been beamed at any individual
whatsoever will be appreciated forever!!  ; ))

On reading novels:

My view is, with age, most people come out of the clouds that a novel takes
you onto and understand to compromise with the soil of the earth.

(*> I think it is individual. I would say: the more you compromise with the
soil of the earth the more you need to break away for a while. 1 novel [it
is a reader's time unit] spent in the clouds helps you look at things with a
slightly different perspective, see what you have not noticed before. If you
find yourself in the situation you do not know how to cope with, distance is
what you most often need. Just like a painter who steps back every now and
again to see better where to paint the details of the picture.
What changes with age is what we seek in the book and what we appreciate .

the next day.

Sighting of moon by female is discounted. Only males should report that they
have seen it. Eid is
not eclared if females see the moon.

There is an idiom: "eid kaa chaand ho gaye" (you have become moon of eid).
As moon of eid is visible
once a year, the idiom refers to a person whom you meet after a long along
time.
