: [nukkad] Reading novels

We struggle between 1% of what we know and 1% of what we don't know,
but rarely come across the 98% of what we don't know that we don't know.

: [nukkad] Reading novels

Is it so that with age growing above 30, your more involvement in day to day
life viz a viz your occupation, family matters, finances etc., you tend to
lose your liking for books novel ???

What is your experience??
========================================================================

My experience is that:

1. I did not get to read more than a few novels because I had no time left from arduous studies, coupled with the fact that reading novels was considered waste of time in educated middle class families.

2. Once I started reading a novel, I could never put it down without completing it. That means 2-4 days gone awry at a stretch, meaning thereby that daily professional studies were totally ignored, so I avoided novels like a plague.

3. I realize now that I should have read a few good social novels and also sen a few social films. By social, I mean those which portray human feelings and emotions. Lack of that experience has, at least in part, been responsible for my lack of feelings and emotions, which is a bad human trait.

4. As age advances, one does get a feeling that each person’s life is an unfolding novel in itself. So, the facination for reading about others’ lives might decrease to that extent.
