Re: Cars

Talkin of Cars are we.. well I for one cannot resist commenting on
this...

Mav :
Performance vehicle, well looks hardly decide performance... the
Lamborgini looks a million but is severely underpowered :(

Sam :
Lambos (750hp) underpowered? I think not, Mav! I think they are
very
powerful :-) ... but they are low cars. Getting in and out can be
a
problem for some folks (though the cars have good leg room).
Since they are built for speed... they have to be low.

-A:
I'v never driven a LamborgHini myself, but have heard from a few
ppl that even at 750bhp it does not have the kind of revs it shd
so thats all I can say 'cept for the looks.

Do you like the new Maserati Spyder ??? :-)

-A:
Looks good but it still has most of the trademark Maserati
problems .. light steering, uncomfy seats ... Tiscali has done a
good comparison of all convertibles chk it out at
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/motoring/roadtests/roadtest_426_1.html

A big Plus is tht the engine has been done up by Ferrari

>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mav :
Also an all-wheel drive car is more safer than a rear-wheel drive
car
especially in a spin, I took an esteem for spin and it turned
turtle...
thankfully escaped with some scratches only...

Sam :
Its good that you escaped unhurt. :-)
An AWD is specially useful while driving in snow.
But the fancier(fast) cars are usually rear wheel drive.

-A:
Although I like the pickup I get form a rear wheel drive car, but
these are severely impaired when you take them up an incline... I
think a car tht offers you both the choices is really good. In
India, the Maruti Gypsy King gives u this option but sadly most
ppl who own this do not even use the option.

>Mav :
Or decide to drive a Volvo truck... without the trailer I have
heard it
has lots of power & speed...

Sam :
Volvo trucks are popular here... they are used to transport all
kinds
of stuff.
Volvos are excellent cars... very safe... supposed to be the
best
stealth cars around. Recently... Volvo introduced the SUV... the
Volvo XC90 (T5 or T6). Very nice... a SUV but drives like a car
!!
Are Volvos sold in India ??
Did you know that Porsche is also introducing a SUV... the
Porsche
Cayenne? But that will be very expensive... after all its Porsche
!
The name "Porsche" itself is worth... say ~ $10,000 ;-)
Volkswagon is also making SUV's. I think it has the same engine
as the Porsche... but it will be cheaper because it is Volkswagon.
:-)

In India... I have seen many Mercedes' (usually white because of
hot
weather?)... a few BMW's... some Toyota's... some Honda's... a
few
Ford Taurus'... a couple of Mitsubishi SUV's... and only one
Lotus.
A couple of months ago... I watched an Indian movie... that
Roshan
guy was the hero... and he was driving a Ferrari. Do people in
India
drive Ferrari's ? I have never seen a Ferrari in India ...

-A:
Give me a Cheroke or a Hummer anyday :) There are very few Ferrris
in India .. spl in Delhi .. the biggest prob is where do you drive
them... I cannot even get top power from a simple Maruti 800 on
Delhi roads unless I lease a huge chunk of the ring road and get
it paved. :( Hate Delhi for that.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mav :
Thankfully the signal at the end helped me gain a lead,
fortunately the
truck didn't enjoy the power to weight ratio I did... but he did
have
some real mean raw power...
Sam :
Wow !! That is "road rage". Be careful... Mav. Life is precious.
I used to drive fast (but never raced other cars). And now...
after getting 2 tickets (in one year)... I am careful. Nowadays
I
always drive below the speed limit :-(
Does your car have an automatic or manual transmission ?
Personally I prefer manual... because with an automatic
transmission...
I tend to fall asleep... nothing to do... push the gas pedal and
go :-(
In India... do cops give you tickets for speeding, not stopping at
a stop sign, not yielding correctly, improper parking... ?
But let me say this... Indian drivers are really experts. If one
can
drive in India... he/she can drive anywhere in the world !! :-)
-A:
I have never enjoyed Auto transmission .. neither in cars nor on
scooters... takes all the joy outta driving...
Sam in India cops stop you for everything and sometimes just for
fun :) Its just that you never know when they will suddenly wake
up and start writing tickets... Delhi traffic cops are notorious
for their anti-pollution, overspeeding, red-light jumping and
various other drives. They typically announce tbat the following
week they will be booking ppl for X or Y or Z offence and then
proceed to write about 12-13000 challans.
Recently they had started a new funda.. if u got a ticket, you had
to visti their office to pay the fine .. there as part of the
punishment they made the person watch a 2 hour movie on road
safety and rules .... and there is usually a 1-2 hour wait before
you got your turn to watch the movie :)
In the last 10 years that I'v been driving, I have only got a
ticket 2ce. Once about 8 years back the cops were hiding behind a
tree almost in my lane and soon as i drove up on my scooter they
jumped me :( I did not have a helmet, no papers, no insurance and
also no non-pulluting vehicle certificate... so that was a Fat
ticket.. it was a spl drvie and I was supposed to pay 500/- per
offence so that came to about 2000 rupees.. thankfully I knew the
local SHO well and got off with a warning of only 50/-
The other time, last year... I was ext. disturbed had been driving
all over delhi for a Visa for my sister and someone in front of me
jumped a light in a zero tolerance zone.. i thot i had a green so
did not bother to look at the light and the cops got me.. here
again i was lucky as i escaped with only a warning of only 100/-
instead of a 1000/- cause the guy in front of me refused to stop
and I did and was very nice to the coppies. :)
Btw... I drive at the speed limit but I never break any serious
rules .. I only jump lanes but that is a way of survival on the
street here :)
keep it comin bout the cars ...
cheers
-A
