[nukkad] Lamenting the state of women and the men ....

How well do Hindus's treat their women? I know I am going to
recieve more than the average amount of abuse for this but let me
draw attention of all those who have accused other religions as
being primitive etc.

Dear Ravi,
1. Please tell me who on the list has called any other religion as
primitive or who has shown disrespect towards any other religion.
[Mind you, mentioning about deficiencies or undesirable aspects of
any religion is not showing disrespect to it].
2. You are mixing up issues. There are three different things:
practice, religious teaching and legal provisions. Practices
mentioned by you are not wide spread in Hindu society. They are
not based upon religious teachings laid down in any Hindu
scripture, nor are they preached by Hindu religious leaders.
Neither do they have sanction of Indian law. As against this,
certain practices in other religions/s are wide spread, have
sanction of their scriptures, are preached by their religious
leaders and are supported by their personal law and religious
law.
