If Congress had won the election, the media would have exhorted
BJP to respect people's verdict and mend their ways. Now that BJP
has won, people's verdict has no meaning and Congress is not being
asked to mend their ways of pseudo-secularism.  Heads I win, Tails
you lose, eh?

What is unfortunate here ??
That the election has been won and fought on purely lines of religion.

In Gujarat, If I am Hindu I will vote for a Hindu, If I am Muslim I will
vote for Muslim or "secular"
party (ok psec if you like).

Why only Gujarat ? Now in each and every election henceforth this will be
the criteria.
No one will care who the candiate is or what he has done for the
constituents.

But it will be more on the lines of who belongs to which religion.

And no matter who wins it will be a matter of shame to all.

As you say today Congress has got cut by vote bank politics but tommorow BJP
will also be
burnt by its Hindutva fire.

So don't be jingoistic but lament the state of democracy in our country
