Perfection is attained by slow degrees; it requires the hand of time.
-Voltaire, philosopher (1694-1778)

Adheer...
The other day you posted the article... "Tomorrow"...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But in fact, they passed on and faded from view, and
all that they left when their living was through was a
mountain of things they intended to do --- Tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And yesterday... you posted... "He found me" ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I thought about you and your class and I remembered
something else you had said: ‘The essential sadness is
to go through life without loving. But it would be
almost equally sad to go through life and leave this
world without ever telling those you loved that you
had loved them.’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a lovely sequel to "Tomorrow" ... so fitting... :-)
Do we know when we are going to die? In 50 years, 20, 10, 5,
today? We do not know...
The truth is... none of us have any idea how long we will live.
Sadly... however... we act as if we are going to live forever.
We postpone the things that, deep down, we know we want to do -
telling the people we love how much we care... spending time alone
... visiting a good friend... taking that beautiful hike... running
a marathon... writing a heartfelt letter... going biking with a
friend... learning to meditate... becoming a better listener... and
on and on ...
We come up with elaborate and sophisticated rationales to justify
our actions, and end up spending most of our time and energy doing
things that aren't all that important.
We argue for our limitations... and they become our limitations.
Tommy's life story teaches us that we need to live each day as if it
is our last day on this earth. No... I am not suggesting that we
become reckless or abandon our responsibilities... but just a reminder
of how precious life really is... and how love is the essence of life.
... and in the end ... Love is its own reward ...
Is another word for Love ... Peace ?
Yes... I think sometimes it is ...
... and Tommy found it ... Peace!
-Sam.
