Lets forget about this religious thing. It is usually nothing more than a
personal situation in which we were born into !!!

The answer to your first question is - no. I never had the islamic point of
view in mind . People consume alcohol irrespective of religion.

As for the abuse of alcohol , yes. Regular / excessive drinking .

True. I had an uncle who was a Regular / excessive drinker , but otherwise a
gem of a person. Exceptions rather than the rule . Frequently folks abuse
alcohol to "forget" -  again just my opinion.
