This is an interesting analysis.

I always assumed that Indian communists do not follow the atheistic
principles of Marx and Engels but are quite religious in nature.
How else do you explain Jyoti Basu's (one of India's most well-known
communists) active participation in the annual Durga Pooja festivities?

I bet a majority of communists in Kerala too are religious in nature.
Can Ravi, Farook, Venugopal et al confirm or deny?
